NC Mountains

The prime western third of the state of North Carolina is the geography of the Appalachian mountains. Consisting of the Blue Ridge and Great Smoky Mountains, they contain the Pisgah, Nantahala, and Cherokee National Forests. With Mount Mitchell at an elevation of 6,684-feet, it is the highest peak in the eastern USA. Grandfather Mountain, French Broad, Watauga, Nantahala, and Linville rivers are other great natural features to visit.
